The Society has a large college of genealogical material related to families from Sussex County and the surrounding areas. Research can be conducted at the museum during open hours.
In addition to many published volumes of Family Genealogy, The Genealogy Committee of the Society maintains a large hard copy file ("flat file") of family names related to Sussex County and the surrounding area. Information contained in these files might consist of newspaper articles, family trees, photographs and information either donated by a family, queries into that surname, or the result of research conducted on a particular surname. The amount of information contained within them can be scant or extensive. Please be aware that although we have made every attempt to catalogue these files to date, there may be documentation on your surname that will not be found in this index. If the surname you are researching doesn't appear below, please feel free to contact us to help you with your research.
If you have done research on your family, please consider donating a copy to the Society to help others in their search!
Society members are welcome to research in the library during our visiting hours. Non-members may use the library for a donation of $15.00 which entitles them to an individual membership for the year.
At the present time, we do not have the personnel to research the other files and resource materials in the library for you. However, upon receipt of a fee of $40.00 we will search our family flat files, and make copies of up to four (4) pages of material pertaining to that name. We will indicate if there are additional pages pertaining to that name in the flat file and the additional charge is 25 cents per page.
